City God Temple of Shanghai

Updated: Nov 27, 2022

The City God Temple tourist area is located in two major attractions, the Yu Garden and the Old City God Temple, and is a must-see for first-time visitors to Shanghai.Large or small, many ancient Chinese cities with walls had a temple dedicated to one or more immortals or deities as the city's spirit or protector. Later, a part of this area was gradually transformed into a more commercial and you can feel about Shanghai's traditional food and culture.

There are quite a lot historical landscapes in Shanghai, for example, Yu Garden, The Bund, The City Temple, etc. These are very old, valuable and worth seeing landmarks. Here you can enjoy the folklore of Shanghai and taste the authentic Shanghai snacks and local dishes. And at night, the colorful landscape lights on the antique buildings make this place a beautiful scenery.

“This is a great place to experience Shanghai's customs, once known as one of the must-see locations in Shanghai, and of course, the night view is not to be missed.”
